Meet Connie Doepke

Connie lives in Orono with her husband, Mark, and their two children, Matthew and Rebecca. Mark, is a property/casualty actuary and owns his own consulting practice located in Minneapolis. Both children are graduates of Wayzata High School. Matthew, 23, is a recent graduate of the University of Minnesota. Rebecca, 18, is a freshman at Iowa State University.

Connie is a graduate of Michigan State University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Arts.

Connie spent 20 years as an executive in the direct marketing industry and was an officer of a Fortune 500 company. Connie lived in Chicago and New York City before moving to Wayzata in 1993 to become Vice-President of Fashion Merchandising for Fingerhut Companies, Inc. Eight years ago she resigned from her full-time corporate job in order to concentrate more time to her family and public service.

Connie has served two terms as a member of the Wayzata School Board, holding the offices of Chair, Vice-chair, and Treasurer. She also chaired both the Citizens Financial Advisory Committee and Wayzata’s Legislative Action Committee during her term.

For the past 7 years, Connie has become an advocate for small businesses as an active member of the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce, being elected to their Board of Directors in 2007. She serves as co-chair of the Business/Education Partnership.

In 2007, Connie was appointed by Gov. Pawlenty to serve on the Board of the Minnesota Humanities Center where she is a member of the Finance Committee.

She continues to serve on the Citizens Financial Advisory Committee for Wayzata Schools and is an active member of the Minneapolis Chapter of Fashion Group, International.
 

Community/Civic Involvement:

• Eight years as a member of the Wayzata School Board, including Chair, Vice-Chair, and Treasurer.

• Chair of Wayzata Citizen's Financial Advisory Committee.

• Advocate for small business as member of the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce (8 years). Elected to the Board of directors in 2007.

• Co-chair Business/Education Partnership.

• Appointed by Governor Tim Pawlenty to the Board of the Minnesota Humanities Center, also serving on the Finance Committee.
 

Volunteer Activities:

In addition to being an elected official for eight years on the Wayzata School Board, Connie has done the following volunteer activities for the community:

• Art Adventure program parent volunteer – 5 years • Parent presenter for Middle School Career Day
• Book Nook reading program parent volunteer – 5 years • Parent volunteer for elementary school Science Fair
• Middle school party chaperone • Parent volunteer for annual carnival fundraiser
• Senior Party volunteer • Community member of the Citizens Financial Advisory Committee
• Wayzata Bay Center School Art Fair volunteer • 3-year DECA parent volunteer as a Judge for district and state competitions
• 2-year parent volunteer for the Wayzata Summer Soccer Tournament • Feature writer for “Families First” publication distributed by the Communities in Collaboration Council
• 3-year parent volunteer as hostess for the Wayzata men and women’s varsity soccer team dinners • Parent volunteer for Girl Scouts: Wayzata Summer Day Camp
